Office with a view

Why build a bridge when the Mackenzie river is frozen six months a year? During the summer months, people can use the Louis Cardinal Ferry, which is free.

It takes people across to Tsiigehthic.

  1. Because, for 3 months of the year the ice is to thin to drive on, but to thick for the ferry to cross through, those months suck! A bridge would be oh so nice, although riding the ferry is fun! ;-)

  2. Bridges are pretty darn expensive, but it’s not exactly free to run the ferries and maintain the ice bridge, either.

I’d like to see a comparison of the costs: construction and maintenance of a new bridge versus operation of the ferry and construction and maintenance of the ice bridge.
