Every summer, Inuvik’s Sir Alexander Mackenzie primary school boards its windows to protect against vandalism.
It’s a pretty dramatic move, but vandalism rates are high in Inuvik. (As you can imagine, glass is also expensive to replace.)

It’s common right across the north. The school near my place, in Whitehorse, is boarded up too. You’d think that they’d just install those cool exterior “venetian” metal blinds that they use in Europe…
It’s sad to hear that. Some people have no concept of right and wrong.
