Great new digs! I thought of making the jump to wordpress myself a couple times. I just can’t find the time to get around to it. Plus, I seriously resize all my photos to make storing them a synch on blogger. I’m going to have no choice eventually. Anyway, I like how the whole blog (version 1 and 2) are on version 3. Very cool redesign too. I like the header with some of your favourite photos.
Yeah, I really like things here too — I got a new Mac which has a program called “comic life” which I use for layout.
(I also spent some time in Yellowknife, meaning I had a few evenings in a hotel room with my laptop to figure things out…)
The best part is the domain name! I no longer have to explain the awkward title “Inuvik Boot Grille” (though it served me well for a year) and its long blogger address.
My favourite new features are the search bar, and the “pages” which have into about me, etc.
Thanks Gary! I am glad to have your blog on my link lis!
The only confusing feature are the “blog stats.”
The old counter registered one person per three hours. (meaning if you had more than one window open, it didn’t count as two.)
So I think the hit numbers are artifically inflated. I had reached an exciting level of about 1000 hits a month, and this says 587 after a few days. Surely the relaunch can’t be worth that much??
(Also, just for the heck of it, I might leave some flyers around town.
Anyone have a better tagline than: “views from the Beaufort Delta, NWT?”
Why was the last blog called Inuvik Boot Grille? And now you have changed it. I don’t know what I should use for a name now to link to your page? You should call it Inuvik Phil’s views from the Beaufort Delta!
BTW you have dust on your sensor. I just used a puffer to get rid of that, it’s easy.
“Inuvik Boot Grille” referred to these metal sidewalks in town, which you scrape your boots on.
But few people really got the reference, and it was always kind of an odd title.
I guess the new name is Inuvikphotos.ca.
(Also, thanks for the tip, I’ll clean that sensor before Lee Thomas sues me for copyright infringement.)
well since EVERONE is commenting i would like to add my voice being a fan of your blog
GREAT layout. but the” comic pic” which i assume represents you dosent work.
your a ” pleasent chap” to look at in your previous posts [ the REAL YOU }
. so why the ” comic” look??
it looks to “adolescent”.
you have a powerful and spiritual face, and a look in your eyes that demands knowledge so why replace it with a ” comic book figure??
I also like the OLDER pics as when i click on them they give me FULL screen. . the advantage of that is it gives one a better feel for the space that you photograph..
example..
the ” red building” in your recent photo didnt blow up to full size. .
a GREAT shot.
but it loses in a smaller format. ..i love to study the composition . it gives me a GREAT feel for the space you represent yourself in ..
ok . thats it..
ill shut up . . but cmon …. everyone else is commenting!!!!!!!
its TOUGH when you get a ” fan club” going isnt it?? they are SO demanding!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Saatvic. I will admit that having regular readers encourages me to keep posting!
The difference in your stats may be that one counter is counting visits and the other was counting page views. I get about twice as many page views as visitors, and the numbers you’ve provided sound about the same.
Ok I fixed up my new link to say Inuvik Photos!
LOL Dude, the Lee Thomas comment shot right over my head….I even tried looking it up but apparently there are a few Lee Thomas’ out there! Can you help out a slow person and explain?
Cheers!
Lee Thomas is a pilot who lives in my building, and posts photos at http://www.Dustysensor.ca!
I always thought that was a good name..
OK I gets it! LOL
Dust is my enemy!
I always liked the name “Inuvik Boot Grille”, but I can understand what you mean about most people not getting it. Is there and RSS feed for your new blog?
(I also like how all the old entries from the other two blogs are here)
I will look into this RSS stuff, I am not sure. (Strangely, this post seems to have become almost a discussion board!)
